Soot Sprites

Are you a Miyazaki fan? Because if not, I don't know if we can be friends. Though, I didn't really watch a large majority of his films until relatively recently, but I absolutely love them. Even though it's a bit creepy, Spirited Away is still wonderful and I absolutely love the adorable soot sprites that run around with their little stars.

Yeah, a lot of them are kinda derpy looking, but that's just part of their charm, right?

One Ring to Rule Them All

A few things:

I should either get a darker color gold to use the white on top
or
Just stick it out with the black, even though it's been getting kinda clumpy.

Even though the white is okay, I feel like it would stand out better if there was more contrast. I would also probably use a longer piece of text for my left hand, because the "One ring to bind them" was a bit short. I was also thinking of just making the text smaller overall so I could fit more of it onto each nail. But until next time!

Owls

It's still kind of early for Halloween, but I feel like owls can work for any time of the year. I think this one turned out pretty well though I can't really say the same for my right hand (the owl looks pretty derpy, but it's okay I still love him). I may try something even more Halloween-y once it gets closer to the actual holiday!

Leopard Spots

I have been moving way too much. Moved out of my dorm mid-May to an apartment, moved out of that apartment June 1 to the apartment I am currently living in. And I'm just going to have to move into my new dorm at the end of August. Phew. Anyway, that's my excuse why I haven't been posting anything new here, but I finally dug out my nail polishes out of a box yesterday!

Full size this one!

So what I learned this time...
  • Check what color polish you grab. I meant to do the spots in black, but I think the blue may have actually looked better so... lucky me.
  • Watching Teen Titans while trying to make spots doesn't always go so well
  • Keep the spots small, otherwise they just look like blobs lol.
  • Reference materials do help... I pulled up a bunch of pictures of tiger stripes for those nails, but I only had one decent picture of leopard spot nails, not even real leopard spots. This is what happens when you don't have internet in your apartment. *sigh*
All of these polishes came from Five Below (one store has opened that is accessible by metro, squee!). That is where I get all of my detail brushes (I have so many now, but I love them) if you want to try some of these yourself. :)

Tuxedo Penguin "Tutorial"

What is cuter than a penguin? A penguin in a tuxedo with an adorable bow tie!

Start with some sort of base color. I did classic black, but pink, purple, blue, whatever would do! Then I added the white belly with a normal brush then little eyes with a white detail brush.

Then I added black dots for pupils with a black detail brush, an orange beak, a red bow-tie, and two little buttons.

The design is not complicated, but it takes some luck and some patience. But then you get cute penguins! Yes, I do realize penguins are more of a winter weather animal and it is now spring, but penguins are adorable all year round. =)
